No – our properties are available to everyone!

Homestar is an independent national rating tool run by the NZ Green Building Council. It measures the health, warmth and efficiency of New Zealand homes.

A 6 Homestar rating or higher means that a house will be better quality—warmer, drier, healthier and cost less to run—than a typical new home that is only built to NZ building code. Find out more from the NZ Green Building Council.

As our properties are new builds, they only require a 10% deposit, instead of the 20% you would traditionally pay on an existing older home. However, if you are eligible for the First Home Grant, you could purchase one of our new builds with as little as 5% deposit (more on that below).

Your deposit is held securely by our independent solicitor in their trust account for your protection.

As a first home buyer, you could be eligible for a handful of schemes made available by the New Zealand Government. You may now withdraw from your Kiwisaver savings and put this towards your deposit, you can apply for a First Home Grant (previously known as Kiwisaver Homestart grant), and the First Home Loan to make those first steps a lot easier.

The First Home Grant is available to first home buyers who meet the eligibility criteria and is a one-time helping hand from the Government. You could receive up to $20,000 to put towards your deposit, and the best part? You don’t have to pay it back!

First Home Loans make it easier for first home buyers who can afford to have a mortgage but are struggling to save the minimum 20% deposit that was traditionally required. Issued by selected banks in New Zealand, the First Home Loan requires only a 5% deposit. There are some criteria that you need to meet, along with house price caps, but fortunately, if you’re buying a new build, the cap is much higher!

Many first home buyers think that their only option is an old, run-down existing home that they might someday afford to renovate, but that’s not the case! Solution Street’s new-build properties are tailored specifically to first home buyers. We’re passionate about providing warm, healthy homes to the Auckland market at a price that first home buyers can afford (plus, our experience with the available financial help makes them even more affordable!)

Your mortgage is a major commitment, so it’s important to make an educated decision. Solution Street is not a mortgage provider, but because we will work with you closely and support you through the process, we’ll be able to offer expert insights. We’ve built strong relationships with popular banks and brokers, so if you’re not sure where to start and would like a hand, we can put you in touch with a completely independent financial advisor who will give you advice on what will work best for you. This way, you can best navigate interest rates, sale and purchase agreements, mortgage repayments, and the other financial aspects of the purchase.
